The origins of RCM International date back to July 1986 when Gary Dobson & Joe Versteeg started the company with the express purpose of assisting their clients with the application of the Reliability-Centered Maintenance Principles to general industry.
Until then Dobson & Versteeg had both worked for a major international consulting company and were mentored by the late John Moubray who had also left to start 'Aladon' in the UK.

Although RCM remained a primary area of expertise for the next ten years, Critical Path Planning for Shutdown Management, and Maintenance Management in general soon became areas of specialization at which the company excelled. Clients during those years included British and European multi-national manufacturers and mining companies.

The US branch of RCM International was registered in 1993 and operated out of Cleveland, Ohio.
Now based, near Charlotte, in North Carolina, RCM International operates throughout the US, with a wider range of services in industrial management, maintenance and reliability.
